Assetto Corsa EVO Introduces EVO SR: The Safety Rating System That Rewards Wheel-to-Wheel Racing

Kunos Simulazioni has launched a brand new and unique Safety Rating system for the Assetto Corsa EVO Daily Racing Portal: EVO SR. Unlike anything seen before in sim racing, this system is built around a single core principle — how you race against others matters far more than simply avoiding incidents.

A Different Philosophy

Most safety rating systems in the sim racing world track incidents per lap, corner, or kilometre. The result is that a driver who spends an entire race at the back of the field, away from everyone else, can earn the same safety score as someone who fought wheel-to-wheel for the entire race distance. With EVO SR, that is no longer the case.

The new system does not measure the absence of incidents — it measures the presence of clean, close racing. A driver circulating alone in clean air gains very little Safety Rating. Real progress comes from racing close to others, consistently, respectfully, and without unnecessary contact.

How EVO SR Works: Three Simple Rules

The system comes down to three core principles:

• Race close, race clean → SR increases
• Stay isolated at the back → SR changes very little
• Race close and make contact → SR decreases

What is measured is the time spent in close proximity to other cars without contact. Whether you are battling for the lead, fighting through the midfield, lapping backmarkers, or running in a close multi-car train — it all counts in your favour. Who you race against is irrelevant. What matters is demonstrating the ability to race closely and respectfully around others.

Contact Attribution Through Data

One of the most frustrating aspects of traditional systems is losing Safety Rating after being hit by another driver. EVO SR addresses this by analysing impact data to determine responsibility. In simple terms: aggressive driving is penalised and innocent drivers are protected wherever possible. If someone drives into you, they should carry the cost — not you.

Severity Is Everything

Not all contact is equal. A light brush exiting a corner is treated very differently from a high-speed collision. Penalties scale according to the severity of the incident — major crashes carry meaningful consequences, while minor touches are weighed against an otherwise clean performance. Minor slipstream taps while racing nose-to-tail fall below the system's sensitivity threshold: close racing should never be punished simply for being close.

Safety Rating Tiers

The system is structured across five categories:

• Rookie (0–19): where every driver begins
• Class D (20–39): earned through clean, close racing
• Class C (40–59): consistent racecraft
• Class B (60–79): diminishing returns kick in
• Class A (80–100): the top tier — earned, not stumbled into

What EVO SR Does Not Punish

EVO SR does not penalise wall contacts: solo mistakes are part of learning and have no impact on your Safety Rating. The system focuses exclusively on how you behave around other drivers on track.

Driving alone does not prove you can race safely. Racing wheel-to-wheel, with respect and without contact, does.
