What is Sim Racing?

Sim racing, or racing simulation, is much more than a video game. It is a discipline that faithfully replicates the driving experience, requiring skills, strategy, and a deep understanding of driving dynamics. Simulators like Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa Competizione, and rFactor offer immersive simulations with accurately recreated tracks, weather conditions, and vehicles, making sim racing a true virtual sport.

Automobilista 2 V1.6.9.91 Now Live — Further Fixes and Improvements

Reiza Studios has released the small update V1.6.9.91 for Automobilista 2, complementing the latest major release with a focused set of fixes and refinements. From this update onwards, the 2004/2005 GT cars introduced with the Historical Endurance Pack Pt2 DLC are restricted to owners of that pack. The Milano 55 GT remains free base game content for all users.

General

Fixed an issue where erroneous qualifying rules were displayed in the event setup screen when creating a Multiplayer lobby from the game client.

Physics

A default intermediate tyre option has been added for LMP and GT 2005 classes. Cold tyre effects have been slightly reduced for the GT1, GT1 2005, GT2 2005, GTR 2004, and LMP1/2 2005 classes. Minor adjustments have been made to GT and prototype wet tyres.

Vehicle-specific updates: the Spyker C8 GT2-R receives a slightly reduced centre of gravity and minor adjustments to the default differential setup. The Gillet Vertigo has its engine rev band corrected to 7,200 RPM, a slightly reduced centre of gravity, and a minor increase in rear wing baseline downforce. A physics glitch with the HD variant of the McLaren MP4/12 has been resolved.

AI wet lines have been added for Road Atlanta, Road Atlanta 2005, Le Mans, Le Mans 2005, and Le Mans Bugatti. Various adjustments to AI fuel and tyre pit stop thresholds to slightly improve decision-making on the correct time to switch tyres. Minor adjustments to AI overtaking and lateral rate thresholds for GT classes. AI throttle application scalars in wet conditions and on straights have been reduced for formula, GT, and prototype classes featuring traction control. A dedicated calibration pass has been carried out for the Gillet Vertigo Streiff.

Milano GT55: internal engine sound volume adjusted.

Vehicles

Damage models fixed and collisions adjusted for Panoz Esperante GTLM, Lister Storm GTM, Gillet Vertigo Streiff, and TVR Tuscan T400R. The Spyker C8 Spyder GT2-R receives adjusted driver animations, a revised cockpit camera POV, and a fix for the flickering windscreen banner. The Gillet Vertigo Streiff features updated shift light displays. The Saleen S7R GT1 gains RPM LEDs, rear wing badges, a corrected steering wheel pivot point axis, and a fix for the right-hand mirror mapping issue.
