Assetto Corsa Rally — Update 0.5: Greece, Online Multiplayer and Major Physics Overhaul
The Supernova team has announced Update 0.5 for Assetto Corsa Rally's Early Access programme, a landmark release for the simulator: a new Greek location arrives, the first phase of online multiplayer goes live, and a deep revision of the physics model is introduced. As usual, leaderboards will be reset to ensure fair competition for all players under the new physics architecture.
Rally Greece — Two Iconic Special Stages
The new location brings two authentic World Rally Championship-style special stages, covering a total of 22 km of laser-scanned roads across 509 metres of elevation change, with 12 layout variants.
Elatia, near the town of the same name, is a fast and spectacular stage: wide, dusty roads with ruts, exposed rocks, and sweeping corners that let drivers fully exploit their car's power with spectacular drifts. Speed and challenging surface conditions demand constant precision and focus.
Loutraki is the more technical of the two: a famous WRC stage that starts on the outskirts of town and climbs into the hills of Aghii Theodori along dusty roads lined with stones, boulders, and hazards around every corner. It alternates fast sections with winding, technical stretches, testing concentration and car control throughout.
Online Multiplayer — Phase One
With this update, ACR's multiplayer goes live in its first phase, featuring official and custom lobbies for up to 16 players in single-stage events. Players can create their own lobbies, set weather conditions, apply car restrictions, or join official Supernova-managed lobbies designed to always have open slots available through multiple active instances.
The multiplayer also introduces a rotating event calendar, consisting of two standard weekly events and one premium weekend event running from Friday to Sunday. Week 1 features: Rally 2 cars on Greek stages in clear conditions, a Mini Tarmac Festival across 8 tarmac stages with the Mini Cooper S, and a weekend event with the Subaru Impreza S3 in Wales under light rain. Week 2 offers the Alfa Romeo GTA 1300 Junior on Greek stages, a Rally 2 Gravel Festival across 8 gravel stages, and a weekend event with the Lancia Delta Integrale Evo on the Col de Turini stages in light snow.
Major Physics Overhaul
The heart of this update is a deep rework of the physics model, with short, medium, and long-term goals. In the short term, all the improvements listed below are already in place. In the medium term, tyre and brake thermal dynamics, tyre wear, and more advanced suspension setups for rough surfaces will be reintroduced. In the long term, thanks to a renewed collaboration with MegaRide — an Italian company specialised in vehicle dynamics and tyre simulation — the tyre model and vehicle dynamics will be developed further.
The peak slip angle formula has been revised as a function of load to narrow the variation range, increasing the performance impact of the inner tyre so it acts as a functional gripping tyre rather than just a dragging scrub tyre. Load sensitivity has been made more stable and now scales dynamically based on tyre pressure and actual contact patch dimensions.
Surface recognition has been completely refactored with dedicated parameter sets for each terrain type and unique modifier overrides per surface. A major new addition is the bulldozing effect — longitudinal and lateral — on soft surfaces: the tyre now generates grip in a more true-to-life manner by displacing and compacting loose material. The lateral effect increases with tyre slip and decreases with excessive camber.
Camber properties are now load-dependent for both camber angle and camber thrust effects, while excessive camber actively reduces longitudinal grip. Stick-slip vibrations (on high-grip surfaces) and dig-dependent vibrations (on low-grip surfaces) have been reintroduced, improving Force Feedback detail and feel. A comprehensive Global Tuning Pass has been completed across all surfaces, cars, and setup presets.
The new dynamic ideal line, which widens through corners, debuts on the Greek stages and will be extended to Wales, Alsace, and Livigno in future updates. Visually, the ideal line now features realistic skid marks and tram tracks that follow the trajectory through the stage.
Audio
The Subaru Impreza S3's engine and exhaust audio has been updated with improved after-fire triggering. The Peugeot 306 has received a remixed engine sound with more induction character. A helmet microphone audio option has been added alongside further cabin camera tweaks. General improvements to 3D spatialisation and the overall audio mix have also been made.
Gameplay, UI and VFX
A global option has been added to apply the camera layout to all vehicles simultaneously or only to the currently active car. Default FOV has been increased for Cockpit and Gauge cameras across all vehicles — custom camera configurations should be checked and readjusted after the update. Advanced particle systems have been introduced for highly detailed, dusty gravel surfaces, with improved particle lighting. Asymmetric ideal trajectory technology has been upgraded with precise control over visual intensity and track placement — currently exclusive to the Greek stages.
Environments and Bug Fixes
General streaming performance improved. New spectator models added to the start and finish zones of Munster. Fixed terrain flickering in multiple service parks, missing collision data on several trees, overlapping duplicate trees, and floating vegetation across multiple levels. Expanded the ambient parked car model pool for greater visual variety. Fixed incorrect technical information in the Subaru Impreza S3 profile, minor text and layout issues in the UI, and a bug where dynamic movable track objects would fail to reset after a stage restart.
