Automobilista 2 V1.6.9.81 Now Live — Full Patch Notes
Reiza Studios has released update V1.6.9.81 for Automobilista 2, a patch that complements the latest major release with a range of fixes and minor improvements spread across multiple areas of the simulator. There is also an important note regarding DLC content: this update marks the end of the free trial period for the most recently added tracks. The Hungaroring, the Historical Track Pt4 layouts, and Monza 2005 are now once again restricted to owners of their respective DLC packs.
General
Two significant crash-to-desktop (CTD) issues have been resolved: one occurred when resetting to defaults on the Session Selection Dialog with no Preset enabled, and another when selecting the F-V10 Gen3 class with a Speedway oval circuit active. Driver disqualification logic has also been corrected — drivers will no longer be incorrectly penalised in the first lap after receiving a Drive-Through for speeding during formation or rolling starts. An issue preventing the correct Limited Setup option from being applied at lobby launch when hosting via the game client has also been fixed.
On the visual side, several tyre-related rendering bugs have been addressed: visual tyre wear was not rendering when a tyre also had a flatspot, motion blur was incorrectly affecting tyres, tyre edges were drawing over car bodywork at glancing angles with Parallax Occlusion enabled, shadow banding appeared on certain tyre treads with that setting active, and triple screen users experienced additional tyre artefacts under the same conditions. The modern Pirelli tyre's initial glossy coating now correctly wears off after the first few metres of driving. The tyre friction threshold for smoke generation has also been further adjusted.
UI and HUD
The pit stop timer HUD widget was displaying an incorrect speed limit alongside unlocalised strings — both issues have been corrected. Missing localised text has been added for the new pit lane HUD messaging, for the Parallax Occlusion Quality setting, and for the Reverb and Wall Reflection audio options. The redundant Traction Control setting in the Renault R28 setup menu has been disabled.
Physics
Minor soft tyre tread adjustments have been made for the following classes: F-V10 Gen1, F-V10 Gen2 (B), F-V10 Gen3 (B&M), F-V8 Gen1 (B&M), F-V8 Gen2, and F-Hybrid Gen3. These are targeted refinements aimed at further polishing the limit behaviour of cars in these categories.
AI
The artificial intelligence has received several global tweaks. Passing and avoidance distances have been slightly increased so that overtaking and avoidance routines engage a little further back from the car ahead, giving the following car more room to manoeuvre. The global AI draft effect has also been adjusted. AI corridor scalars at high and maximum aggression settings have been tuned to minimise instances of AI cars going off-track at those aggression levels.
On a circuit-specific level: AI braking performance into the chicane at the tunnel exit on the Azure has been improved, and AI behaviour around and exiting Turn 8 at the Hungaroring has been optimised.
