Automobilista 2 V1.6.9.8 — Now Live: Renault R25 & R26, New DLC and Much More

Reiza Studios has released V1.6.9.8 for Automobilista 2, a massive update packed with new content, simulation physics improvements and general optimisations. The headline addition is undoubtedly the arrival of the legendary Renault R25 and Renault R26 — the cars that brought Fernando Alonso back-to-back Formula 1 World Championships — available free to all users.

⚠️ Important Notice on F1 Licensing

Reiza has announced that imminent licensing restrictions may result in the removal of some official F1 cars for new purchases of the game, including the newly added Renault cars. However, it is crucial to note that existing AMS2 owners — or anyone who purchases the game before such measures are implemented — will not lose any content they currently own: these cars will remain a permanent part of their Automobilista 2 installation.

?️ New Content: Formula V10 Gen3 and Formula V8

The update introduces three brand-new classes of historic single-seaters:

• Formula V10 Gen3 — Features the Renault R25 (2005 World Championship winner), with Bridgestone and Michelin tyre variants
• Formula V8 Gen1 — Features the Renault R26 (2006 World Championship winner), with Bridgestone and Michelin tyre variants
• Formula V8 Gen2 — Features the Renault R28, with M1 tyre variant

These cars represent some of the most iconic machinery in modern Formula 1 history, boasting high-revving V10 and V8 engines and benchmark-setting aerodynamics for their era.

Alongside the update, two new DLC packs arrive — free for all users during the first few days of release:

An excellent collection of Grade 1 historic circuits, bringing back the atmosphere of Formula 1 from the 2000s:

The legendary Hungarian circuit makes its AMS2 debut, bringing one of the most technical and distinctive tracks on the world championship calendar.

⚙️ V1.7 Physics — Comprehensive Revisions

This update delivers significant V1.7 physics revisions across numerous categories:

• Stock Car Brasil (all seasons), Stock USA (all generations), Sprint Race, F-Junior, F-Vintages, BMW M1 Procar, Hypercars, Supercars, Caterhams
• Further minor tread adjustments for F-Retro Gen3, F-Classic Gen1, F-Edge, F-V10s, F-V8 Gen3, F-Hybrid Gen1
• F-Edge: revised engine outputs for all three models to better reflect actual 1995 figures; aerodynamic and suspension geometry adjustments
• F-HiTech (both generations): revised active suspension for all cars featuring the technology
• F-Vee Gen2: updated to semi-slick tyres in line with the new 2026 regulations
• Fixed missing Intermediate tyre compound option for F-V10 Gen2 and F-Hybrid Gen1
• Reduced default 1st gear ratio for the McLaren MP4/6 and MP4/7A

The AI receives a very substantial update, with notable benefits especially for endurance racing:

• Dynamic downforce setup spread for cars with adjustable downforce levels
• Better AI setup calibration (gearing, downforce, vehicle balance) for numerous Grade 1/2/3 circuits
• Support for user override of custom AI driver vehicle setup bias
• Pit strategy and overtaking parameters fine-tuned for a wide range of categories: LMDh/GTP, LMP2, GT3, GT4, GT1, GT2, Stock USA, F-USA, F-Classic, F-HiTech, F-Edge, F-V10, F-V8, F-Hybrid
• In private qualifying sessions, AI cars now leave the pits immediately when the session starts, eliminating the random delay
• Reduced maximum AI start reaction delay for formula classes
• AI wet weather calibration for all classes with updated V1.7 physics
• Kansai GP: adjusted AI speeds at T2, T3, T4, T5, T6 and the exit of T9
• Spa-Francorchamps 1993: adjusted AI speed at the exit of Stavelot

• Adjusted grip ranges for Spa, Imola, Hockenheim, Montreal and Le Mans
• Nürburgring: added a barrier to prevent a timing exploit on the 24h layout
• Kyalami: fixed excessive vertical shaking for the TV Camera at T

• Added periscope exhaust heat haze effects based on engine RPM for F-V8 Gen1/Gen2 and F-V10 Gen2/Gen3

Users who encounter issues with V1.6.9.8 or have an imminent league race may revert to V1.6.9.5 via Steam: right-click AMS2 → Properties → Betas → select the previous build branch.
