RENNSPORT — Full breakdown of the Coast to Coast Update
RENNSPORT — Full breakdown of the Coast to Coast Update
The RENNSPORT development team has announced the Coast to Coast Update, a free update arriving tomorrow, Thursday June 11, at 09:00 CEST. The update brings two iconic North American circuits, a second iteration of the artificial intelligence system, and a set of targeted bug fixes — all as a direct and concrete response to community feedback.
The community's voice at the heart of development
Before the announcement, the team ran a community survey that gathered over 400 detailed responses. The message that came through was clear and unambiguous: drivers want more content to expand the competitive footprint of the sim, and they want meaningful improvements to the AI. The developers chose to react immediately, shaping this update as a direct answer to those requests. The first official Community Debrief — where the team will openly discuss the feedback received and the concrete actions being taken — is scheduled for Friday.
It is worth noting one deliberate choice: the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport is not included in this update. Following the technical bottlenecks that delayed the previous major release, the team decided not to hold back completed assets any further, preferring to release what is ready rather than tying everything to a single monolithic launch.
To deploy the update, servers will go offline on Thursday June 11 at 09:00 CEST, with an estimated maintenance window of approximately three hours.
A permanent price reduction
Alongside the update, RENNSPORT announces a structural change to its pricing model. Starting Friday June 19, the base price of the Standard Edition will be permanently reduced by 50%. This decision stems from the desire to overcome the limitations imposed by different digital storefronts, which made it difficult to align promotion dates across platforms. Rather than continuing to fight these constraints, the team has chosen to lower the base price directly, guaranteeing all players — regardless of platform — the same immediate and equal access. This fulfils a commitment made at the Munich Summit: to deliver double the content at half the price.
The second iteration of AI: a generational leap
The technical core of this update is the new generation of the AI system, the result of a systematic rebuilding of legacy code. The changes are numerous and deep.
Performance decoupling introduces the separation of AI logic from framerate, making opponent behaviour consistent regardless of the player's hardware performance or display settings. This is a fundamental change that ensures a uniform racing experience across any configuration.
Opponent speed and aggression have been significantly increased: AI drivers are now more confident at the limit and faster across the entire lap, providing a genuinely more challenging competition.
Track discipline has been improved through refined pathing logic that keeps AI drivers within circuit boundaries, drastically reducing erratic excursions into the grass.
The well-known "phantom braking" bug — which caused sudden, unmotivated braking events from opponents, most visibly on the Daytona Oval — has been eliminated. Since this is a systemic fix, the positive effect extends across all circuits in the roster.
Finally, the trajectory logic for banked circuits has been corrected: opponents on the Daytona Tri-Oval now maintain a safe, racing-appropriate line, eliminating the friction and wall-scraping issues that plagued the previous build.
The team acknowledges that some known issues remain: AI collisions (particularly on Sebring and Nordschleife), occasional mutual track-limit violations, the possibility of AI rear-ending the player if they do not launch at race start, and difficulties navigating the carousels on Nordschleife. These issues are already being addressed for the next iteration.
Two legendary American circuits
The update introduces two of the most iconic and demanding tracks in North America, each with unique technical characteristics that challenge car and driver in radically different ways.
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, nestled in the hills of Monterey, California, is defined by extreme elevation changes and high-risk braking zones. The focal point is the legendary Corkscrew: a blind section dropping 18 metres through a rapid left-right combination, requiring absolute precision on entry and the willingness to trust sensory inputs over vision. A mistake here completely invalidates your stint.
Sebring International Raceway, built on the concrete slabs of a former military airfield, is a brutal and unrelenting test of endurance engineering. The surface transitions violently between modern asphalt and legacy concrete, and managing vehicle balance over the savage bumps of Sunset Bend requires a highly progressive force feedback profile and deep respect for tyre carcass deflection. Sebring breaks fragile components — it is a track that does not forgive.
Technical changelog
Added to the permanent circuit list: Laguna Seca and Sebring International Raceway.
On the AI side: resolved the issue causing cars to "wiggle" while driving, optimised AI code to be less dependent on FPS performance, fixed speeds on banked circuits, and eliminated false starts on certain tracks.
For gameplay and progression: corrected a logic error that reported race winners as finishing second in the global championship standings, and fixed a critical session-handshake bug that marked all drivers as DNS (Did Not Start) during the transition from Practice to Qualifying.
For vehicles: the Mercedes-Benz CLK LM 1998 had a rendering error corrected that prevented the HUD dashboard display from updating during high-speed stints.
For the user interface: completed the full translation pass for the telemetry system across all supported languages.
For audio: fixed a missing audio issue with the Porsche 956.
Conclusion
The RENNSPORT Coast to Coast Update is far more than a simple content drop: it is a statement of intent. The team demonstrates through actions — two circuits, a radically improved AI system, a permanent reduction in the entry price — that it has listened to the community and can respond with speed and substance. The road toward a solid and complete simulator is clearly well underway.
