Project Motor Racing - Update 1.6.0.1: GT3 Tyre Model Revolution
Project Motor Racing - Update 1.6.0.1: GT3 Tyre Model Revolution
A new era for racing simulation: improved physics, more realistic feedback and optimized stability
Update 1.6.0.1 for Project Motor Racing represents a major step forward in the evolution of the simulator, primarily focusing on improving stability, driving feel, and addressing numerous issues raised by the community.
GT3 Tyre Model Revolution
The beating heart of this update is a substantial evolution of the tyre model for the GT3 class. This work brings GT3 cars closer to their real-world driving behaviour, with more accurate slip and grip angles, clearer feedback at the limit, and a far more natural transition between grip and loss of traction.
The goal is to deliver a more believable, consistent, and accurate driving experience, particularly when pushing at race pace. It's important to note that, as with all previous physics revisions, this change affects the balance of existing setups. Custom car setups for GT3 cars created prior to this update may no longer behave as intended and will likely require adjustment.
Balanced Force Feedback
This update also brings Force Feedback (FFB) strength balancing across the GT3 class, ensuring a more consistent baseline feel as a default setting.
Physics & Handling
The throttle response system has been completely revised to ensure greater robustness. Downshift Protection has been simplified to be more reliable, with the addition of a percentage allowance for over-revving that makes it less restrictive. Issues with automatic gears and throttle blip assist have been fixed for improved stability. Finally, tyre pre-heating temperatures have been lowered across all classes.
Class-Specific Improvements
LMDh: Traction Control has been fully reworked to improve consistency and usability. Settings 2 through 10 now offer a more meaningful and usable range. An issue that could cause the engine to stall when shifting into neutral has been fixed.
GTO: Traction Control settings have been relaxed to allow more performance and driver influence at the limit.
Group 5 & Group C: TC slip angles have been adjusted for improved stability under load, while clutch slip on downshifts has been increased to improve stability during aggressive deceleration.
Input & Force Feedback
Logitech TrueForce is now disabled by default on PC. Force Feedback has been improved in wet track conditions, and an issue preventing setup selection via mouse input when large numbers of setups were present has been fixed.
Online & Multiplayer
Fixed an issue causing opponent cars to ghost unexpectedly during online races and a bug that could result in players joining an unintended lobby.
AI Opponents & Tracks
Grid capacity at São Paulo has been increased to support up to 32 AI vehicles on PC. Racing line behaviour has been improved across multiple circuits, as has the Racing Line assist. Tree rendering optimization and penalty zone adjustments complete the environmental improvements.
Conclusion
Update 1.6.0.1 represents a significant step forward towards an increasingly realistic and enjoyable simulation experience. The developers thank the community for their continued support and invite everyone to enjoy the new features in Project Motor Racing.
