Automobilista 2 Updates to Version 1.6.9.1: Immediate Fixes and Improvements
Automobilista 2 Updates to Version 1.6.9.1: Immediate Fixes and Improvements
Reiza Studios releases an important corrective update for the Brazilian racing simulator
Reiza Studios has just released update 1.6.9.1 for Automobilista 2, a collection of immediate fixes and improvements that complement the latest major release. This update focuses primarily on physics optimizations, AI corrections, and user interface refinements.
General Updates: Auto-Refueling Returns
One of the most significant changes concerns the fuel refueling system. The developers have re-enabled automatic player refueling during race sessions, based on AI fuel calculations. This feature had been temporarily disabled and now returns in an improved form.
It's important to note that auto-refueling remains disabled during practice and qualifying sessions, ensuring that the fuel load is always as defined in the default or user-customized setup. This design choice allows players to strategically manage their fuel during practice, while in long races they can benefit from more accurate automatic calculations.
User Interface and HUD: Greater Visual Consistency
The development team has worked to resolve various style inconsistencies in buttons and panel corners that emerged following the latest design updates. The interface now presents greater visual uniformity, improving the overall user experience.
Additionally, UI statistics have been updated for all new cars introduced in the latest release, ensuring that displayed data is accurate and complete for every vehicle in the roster.
Physics: Tire and Setup Refinements
Physics represents the beating heart of every racing simulator, and this update brings numerous refinements to the tire model. Minor tread adjustments have been made for several categories:
- Prototypes and Formula: Ligier P4, Formula 3, Formula Vee (both generations)
- Touring Cars: Mini Cooper JCW, Copa Truck, Super Truck, TSI Cup
- GT Classics: Various historic cars
A particularly important intervention concerns the medium and hard compounds for formula series, which had not been fully updated with the latest physics model developments.
Vehicle-Specific Changes
Stock Car USA Gen3: Rear spoiler yaw sensitivity has been slightly reduced, improving high-speed stability without compromising agility.
Aston Martin Valkyrie: Active rear wing activation properties have been adjusted, optimizing the aerodynamic balance of the British hypercar.
Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo: Default front anti-roll bar modified for more neutral corner entry behavior.
Formula Vee Gen2: Adjusted default rear ride height, improving the mechanical balance of the entry-level car.
Artificial Intelligence: Optimized Paths and Behaviors
Automobilista 2's AI receives important improvements, with complete reworking of the fast path for two historic circuits:
- Daytona Oval: Line optimization for more realistic racing on the American oval
- Monza 1971 10K Chicane layout: Trajectory improvement on the historic configuration with the chicane variant
A complete AI calibration pass has been performed for Stock Car USA Gen2 and Gen3 in Superspeedway configuration, making oval races even more competitive and spectacular.
On-Track Behavior
An interesting change concerns aggression and overtaking threshold for Hypercars and Supercars. Engineers have made it less likely for an AI driver in these classes to take a defensive line, favoring more fluid and natural racing in top categories.
For Formula V10 Gen1, braking aggression has been adjusted, while for F-3 and F-Retro Gen1, performance management with slick tires on wet track has been improved.
Vehicles: Details and Displays
The vehicles section receives numerous detail adjustments:
Custom Liveries: Added support for roll cage and front grill tape on Stock USA G2.
Maserati GT2 Stradale: Fixed LODB windscreen Z-fighting issue, added laptime elements to display, and temporarily removed unused second display.
Aston Martin Valkyrie: The onboard display receives significant improvements with the addition of alarm icons for oil/water temperature and low fuel. Cockpit lights updated and RPM LED range updated with new flashing shift LEDs. Fuel level container thresholds also corrected.
McLaren Senna: Adjusted rear wing activation rate in AI cars for more realistic active aerodynamics behavior.
Conclusions
Update 1.6.9.1 demonstrates Reiza Studios' constant commitment to perfecting Automobilista 2. While not introducing completely new content, this update brings substantial improvements to physics, AI, and the simulator's overall usability. Game owners can download the update for free via Steam and are encouraged to test the changes on their favorite tracks and cars.
Reiza's philosophy of releasing incremental but frequent updates ensures that Automobilista 2 continues to evolve, getting ever closer to the goal of offering the most accurate and comprehensive driving simulation possible.
