Automobilista 2: December 2025 Update Brings NASCAR, Hypercars and Nürburgring Tourist Layout

Reiza Studios closes 2025 with a massive update introducing free holiday content, legendary new cars, and significant technical improvements

As the curtain falls on 2025, Reiza Studios shows no signs of slowing down. The Brazilian developer has announced Automobilista 2's v1.6.9 update, a holiday package that promises to revolutionize the driving experience with completely new content, substantial physics improvements, and a special surprise: all new content will be available free for all players during the holidays until the early days of 2026.

A Record-Breaking Year of Growth

2025 has been an extraordinary year for Automobilista 2 and Reiza Studios, with record growth in both users and released content. To celebrate this success and share the holiday spirit with the community, Reiza has decided to offer all new content presented in this update free during the festive period.

Nürburgring 2025: Tourist Layout Arrives

One of the most anticipated announcements concerns the completion of the Nürburgring 2025 package, already considered the most accurate and up-to-date version of the legendary German circuit. The v1.6.9 update finally introduces the Touristenfahrten, the famous tourist layout of the Nordschleife accessible to the public for most of the year.

This addition isn't just about an alternative track layout: AMS2 now supports alternative pit garage paths and split start/finish timing, using the "bridge to gantry" timing points commonly used by visitors to benchmark their results. It's the ultimate Nürburgring experience, from professional competitive environment to enthusiast track day experience.

Supercars Pt2 DLC: Four Performance Icons

To complete the Touristenfahrten experience, Reiza introduces a new DLC package dedicated to dream supercars, with a launch price of $7.99. The package includes four extraordinary vehicles, each with unique characteristics:

Aston Martin Valkyrie - The Ultimate Hypercar

Arguably the most "hyper" of all hypercars, the Valkyrie is a concentration of extreme technology. Its naturally aspirated V12 engine screams to produce, together with the auxiliary electric motor, a combined power of 1160 HP. But it's not just raw power: the Aston Martin boasts active suspension and active aerodynamics, all faithfully simulated in AMS2. It's a car that can go straight from public roads to any track and immediately pulverize existing lap records.

Maserati GT2 Stradale - Italian Elegance at High Speed

For those seeking a slightly less frantic but no less impressive experience, the GT2 Stradale is the high-performance track day variant of the Maserati MC20. Capable of generating 500 kg of downforce to keep its 645 HP in check, this sleek Italian vehicle adds a touch of Mediterranean class to the mix.

Audi R8 V10 GT - Germanic Precision

The Audi R8 V10 GT represents the perfect choice for those who want extreme speed while maintaining the comfort and control typical of a high-end German sedan. The beautiful melody of the V10 also ensures a memorable acoustic experience during every lap.

Dodge Viper ACR - Uncompromising American Muscle

For old-school purists who believe a car should be manhandled to be driven fast and who reject shifting without a stick, there's the Dodge Viper ACR. True to its roots with an 8.4-liter V10 engine producing 645 HP, equipped with the Extreme Aero Package it can hold its own against more modern cars in the hands of a skilled driver.

The introduction of these new vehicles has also led to a complete overhaul of all existing hypercars and supercars (including modern icons like Lamborghini Revuelto, McLaren Senna, Corvette C8 Z07 and timeless classics like McLaren F1 LM and Ultima GTR), bringing them up to the latest quality standards.

Racin' USA Bonus Pack: Welcome NASCAR!

One of the most electrifying surprises of the update is the introduction of American Stock Cars, inspired by three completely distinct generations of NASCAR racing: the 1980s, 1990s, and modern era. This content will be free for all owners of the Racin' USA Expansion Pack and bundles that include it.

American Stock Cars, initially designed for oval racing, gradually evolved to become competitive on road courses as well. The latest generation is equipped with a modern limited-slip differential and high-end aerodynamics, so much so that it could be taken to Le Mans and, with a few modifications, compete on par with the GT racing elite. This fascinating historical alternative will now be testable in AMS2, including the legendary Garage 56 Camaro that raced at Le Mans.

Formula Class Rebranding

With the launch of v1.6.9, fans of the Formula Reiza and Formula Ultimate classes will notice a name change: these classes have been renamed Formula V8 Gen3, Formula Hybrid Gen2, and Formula Hybrid Gen3 respectively. This rebranding follows a more coherent standard for Formula classes from the last 30 years, as each represents specific powertrain regulations.

AMS2 users can expect the generation gaps highlighted by this rebranding to be filled over the course of Q1 2026, with the arrival of new generations of Formula vehicles.

V1.6.9 Technical Improvements

Physics and Tires

The update brings another wave of physics improvements across the board, focusing primarily on further tire refinement. Specifically: tread friction coefficients, hysteresis, thermodynamics, and effects from being outside the optimal temperature window. While similar in nature to the continuous refinements released since last year's v1.6 overhaul, v1.6.9 represents the heaviest punch yet in terms of volume and value of updates.

Improved Artificial Intelligence

AI receives another round of improvements focused on three main fronts:

• First lap/first corner performance: dynamics have been generally improved
• Hard braking: optimized performance in hard braking zones like chicanes and hairpins, where AI in some classes could still be a bit tentative
• Aggressive logic: new logic added to allow AI drivers to decide to brake harder in particular circumstances (when being challenged or challenging for position)

Audio, Camera, and Optimizations

• Audio: improvements to logic and effects for suspension/chassis sounds in steel-frame cars
• Free Camera: the much-requested free camera makes its debut, allowing users to freely roam the track (especially useful for video content creators)
• Optimized TAA: good optimizations achieved for Temporal Antialiasing with a new option to combine TAA with Super Sampling AA
• Yellow flags: significant improvement in detection and display of yellow flags in non-FCY sessions and improved triggers for FCY on road and oval tracks

New HUD and Quality of Life

Work continues on the complete HUD overhaul previewed in the last update. While it's unlikely to be completed in time, Reiza is considering providing a Beta option alongside the existing HUD to gather user impressions before full integration.

Other improvements include doubling of custom championship template slots and single championship save slots.
