Project Motor Racing: Patch 1.5.0.1 Deploys Critical Stability and Core Handling Overhaul
Project Motor Racing: Patch 1.5.0.1 Deploys Critical Stability and Core Handling Overhaul
Project Motor Racing (PMR) has released Patch 1.5.0.1, a significant update focusing less on new content and more on critical stability fixes, backend performance improvements, and a comprehensive overhaul of core vehicle physics, particularly within the competitive GT and LMDh classes. This patch is designed to deliver a more reliable and consistent racing platform for serious sim racers.
Strengthening the Online Infrastructure
The multiplayer experience sees substantial refinement. Key fixes address frustrating connection issues, including correcting a missing callback that previously caused stubborn version-mismatch failures. The process for joining lobbies has been optimized: lobby details are now only fetched when a player attempts to join, resolving an issue where attempting to select a rejected lobby prevented the selection of others. Furthermore, the development team has improved overall server performance and tackled several related crashes, such as those occurring when processing the lobby list twice or finishing a Social Race. A much-requested Quality of Life feature is the introduction of a warning message when a player’s client is outdated, preventing futile attempts to join online sessions.
Simulation Consistency and Vehicle Dynamics Rework
Stability and simulation consistency are heavily targeted. The patch introduces crucial protection against rare “NaN” audio errors and, significantly, addresses fast-math divergence between different platforms. This fix ensures that the simulation results remain more consistent regardless of the hardware being used. Memory management has also been addressed with fixes for a leak in True2Track preset handling and increased memory headroom to prevent related crashes.
The most impactful changes for drivers are found in vehicle dynamics. The GT3 class received a comprehensive standardization effort. Steering, tie-rod, and damping stiffness have been unified to deliver a "tighter, more consistent feel." The overall adhesion quality has been updated, specifically the grip falloff at slip. Importantly, a Handling Revision was applied across GT3, adjusting deceleration torque and engine inertia. Cars now initiate corner entry with a "more natural roll," a subtle but powerful change that skilled drivers should be aware of, as it may necessitate brake-bias adjustments. Similarly, LMDh prototypes benefit from enhanced traction control behavior at low speeds, improving corner exit performance.
AI and Peripheral Compatibility
The Driver AI has received critical upgrades focused on spatial awareness. Improvements in "lateral awareness" aim to combat AI driver blind spots, significantly reducing player-to-AI collisions.
PMR underscores its dedication to the sim racing community by massively expanding hardware support. The 1.5.0.1 patch adds official support for a wide array of new devices, focusing heavily on professional-grade peripherals. Notable additions include several high-end shifters (Aiologs H-Pattern, SimLab SQ-1) and various pedal sets (Simagic P500, MECA CUP1, Simjack Pro), alongside new wheels and wheelbases from manufacturers like Cammus and Lunatech. This commitment ensures that sim racers utilizing specialized custom rigs will find near-unprecedented plug-and-play compatibility.
