GIANTS Software Brings Iconic Le Mans-Winning Audi R8 to Gamescom 2025

A motorsport legend meets the future of racing simulations

GIANTS Software is preparing to dominate Gamescom 2025 with a presence that promises to capture the attention of simulation and motorsport enthusiasts alike. From August 20th to 24th, at the company's booth in Hall 6 (Stand B061) of the Cologne fair, visitors will be able to witness firsthand the Audi R8 that conquered victory at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2002.

A Historic Victory on Full Display

The Audi R8 on display is not a replica, but the authentic race car that crossed the finish line first at the Circuit de la Sarthe on June 16, 2002, bringing Audi its third consecutive Le Mans triumph. The vehicle, which still bears the original battle scars with scratches and dirt, was driven by the winning trio of Frank Biela, Tom Kristensen, and Emanuele Pirro.

With its 610 horsepower delivered by a 3.6-liter V8 FSI engine and over 700 Nm of torque, this racing machine represents an icon of German engineering and early 2000s motorsport. The R8 bearing race number 1 will be displayed in nearly identical condition to the day of victory, allowing visitors to touch a piece of automotive racing history.

Project Motor Racing: The New Frontier of Sim Racing

The R8's exhibition is not coincidental but closely tied to the launch of Project Motor Racing, the new racing simulation developed by Straight4 Studios and published by GIANTS Software. The game, launching November 25, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, will allow players to get behind the wheel of this legendary R8 and many other historic vehicles.

Kai Mensing, responsible for licensing at Audi Tradition and overseer of Audi's video game integrations for over 25 years, expresses his enthusiasm for the project: "It's fascinating to see how gaming and the community have evolved over the years. Today, you can dive so deeply into game worlds that you almost forget you're playing a video game - it all feels incredibly real."

A Unique Interactive Experience

During Gamescom, visitors won't just admire the R8 but will also be able to try Project Motor Racing on high-tech driving stations. GIANTS Software has organized a time trial challenge where whoever records the fastest lap in the simulation will win an exclusive prize, earning the title of event "racing pro."

The game promises a top-tier simulation experience, featuring over 70 licensed vehicles, 27 laser-scanned circuits, dynamic weather conditions, and a 720 Hz physics engine for ultra-responsive handling. The Single Player Career Mode adds further realism, challenging players to manage sponsorships, repairs, and decisions that impact the entire season.

Double Power at the GIANTS Booth

Alongside the Audi R8, GIANTS Software will also display an impressive John Deere 9RX 830 tractor with 913 horsepower, representing both the racing and agricultural worlds - the company's two main focuses. This agricultural giant, measuring 8.83 meters long and equipped with an 18-liter six-cylinder engine, will be the perfect complement to also promote the Highland Fishing expansion for Farming Simulator 25.

The event promises daily stage shows, merchandise giveaways, and various surprises for visitors, who can participate in the Farming Simulator Championship and test themselves in Project Motor Racing time trials.
