Project Motor Racing to Open Factory Driver Program Applications Soon
Project Motor Racing to Open Factory Driver Program Applications Soon
A Revolutionary Approach to Racing Simulator Testing
The sim racing world is buzzing with excitement following the announcement that Project Motor Racing, the upcoming title from developer Straight4 Studios and publisher GIANTS Software, is preparing to open applications for its innovative Factory Driver Program. This program represents a significant evolution from traditional beta testing systems, promising a more structured and engaging experience for virtual pilots.
What is the Factory Driver Program
The Factory Driver Program is not a traditional closed beta or conventional early access. As Austin Ogonoski, the project's Game Design Director, explains, "It's not a beta key lottery". Instead, the program uses a gamified approach that transforms the testing process into an experience more akin to exploring differences between builds and the effects of setup changes.
Key Program Features
The system is built around an online portal that breaks down testing challenges into specific categories set by the development team. Selected participants will have access to:
- Weekly builds of Project Motor Racing
- Up to 50 multiple-choice questions across five categories
- Qualitative feedback system for detailed observations
- Likert scale system for quick and interpretable evaluations
- Session tracking (car, build, circuit)
Selection Process and Criteria
Unlike random key distribution systems, the Factory Driver Program features a selective application process. Candidates will be evaluated based on several factors, including:
- Demonstrated abilities in other racing games
- Sim racing experience
- Ability to provide constructive feedback
As Kevin Boland, Straight4 Studios' Chief Development Officer, emphasizes: "We really want everyone's opinion. We're making something, but we don't want to be stuck in an echo chamber."
Authenticity and Realism Goals
The Factory Driver Program aims to ensure that every vehicle in Project Motor Racing achieves unprecedented levels of authenticity. Feedback collected from selected pilots is used to:
- Refine vehicle dynamics behavior
- Validate default settings to ensure accessibility
- Balance realism and drivability for pilots of all levels
- Collaborate with official partners for final approval
The Technical Vision
The implemented scoring system allows the development team to receive average ratings for each individual trait of each individual car. As a practical example, Ogonoski shares: "Our handling team signs in at 8:30 am, and yesterday they just launched a new build of the Audi R8" - demonstrating the rapid development and testing cycle.
Project Motor Racing: The Context
The Factory Driver Program is an integral part of the ambitious Project Motor Racing project, which promises to deliver:
- Over 70 meticulously recreated vehicles
- 10 iconic motorsport classes
- 27 global layouts of the most prestigious circuits
- Proprietary Hadron physics engine built from scratch
- Native VR support and control peripherals
The simulator, developed using GIANTS Engine 10, aims to combine twenty years of racing simulator experience into a single unforgettable driving experience.
Launch Date and Availability
Project Motor Racing is scheduled for November 25, 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The Factory Driver Program will open applications "soon" according to recent team social media announcements.
The program represents a significant step forward in racing simulator evolution, promising to bridge the gap between developers and community through structured and systematic feedback. For experienced virtual pilots, it represents a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the development of what could become the new standard in sim racing.
