Project Motor Racing: Update 1.6.0.0 Revolutionizes LMDh Class
Project Motor Racing: Update 1.6.0.0 Revolutionizes LMDh Class
A substantial update that improves stability, performance, and realism of the simulator
The developers of Project Motor Racing have released Patch 1.6.0.0, a comprehensive update bringing multiple stability and performance improvements to the simulator. The primary focus of this update is refining the driving behavior for the LMDh class based on community feedback.
Radical Brake System Changes
One of the most significant modifications concerns the default brake bias, now shifted toward a more realistic 50/50 distribution, accompanied by changes to rear brake sizing to better reflect real-world data. This change means that previous setups may feel unstable under braking, particularly in heavy braking zones or during trail braking situations.
Players using custom setups in LMDh, GT3, GT4, and Porsche 992 Cup classes will need to revisit their brake balance settings to adapt to the new characteristics.
LMDh: Renewed Physics and Drivability
The LMDh class has received a substantial round of physics and drivability improvements aimed at making these cars more predictable, rewarding, and realistic across a wide range of conditions. The changes include:
- New tire revisions with improved grip and predictability at cold temperatures
- Changes to engine modeling for more realistic revving and inertia
- Upshift/downshift tuning optimization
- Tuned brake balance and ABS settings
- Updated tires for improved overall handling
Career Mode: Dynamic Weather and Variety
Another exciting addition is the enablement of the weather system and time-of-day cycle in Career Mode. This means start times and weather conditions will be different each time, adding variety and realism to the gaming experience. Weather conditions now include the possibility of rain, while start times have been reviewed to offer greater variety, including night-time races.
Online and Multiplayer Improvements
The online component has received numerous improvements for a more stable experience:
- Fixed an issue causing black screens when a player quit the lobby
- Vehicle damage enabled in Ranked Online mode
- Further improvements to the Ranked scoring system to prevent exploits
- Fixed crashes related to invalid driver profiles
- Improved maintenance mode handling and network stability
Enhanced Artificial Intelligence
AI opponents have received significant improvements:
- Improved braking logic with more precise throttle response
- Optimized understeer and oversteer handling
- Enhanced AI predictions using track incline, tilt, and wet-line speeds
- Improved pit stop logic and pit exit behavior
- Refined AI performance for closer, more consistent racing
- Adjusted AI tire wear to better match player performance
More Accurate Penalty System
The penalty system has received important refinements:
- Improved track limit detection margins and accuracy
- Fixed incorrect penalties on Nurburgring Nordschleife and Lexington
- Added safer detection of drivable surfaces outside track limits
Vehicles and Tracks
Numerous aesthetic and functional improvements for vehicles:
- Fixed an issue that turned driving assists off despite them being on
- Improved windscreen reflections, materials, cockpit displays, and gauges across multiple cars
- The Porsche 992 GT3R has received improved cockpit vibrations
For tracks, ground collision materials have been added and refined, with texture issues, clipping, and LOD corrected across multiple circuits.
Rendering and Hardware Support
The update also includes:
- Fixed shadow LOD inconsistencies
- Improved exposure handling, including cockpit exposure masking
- Fixed rear-view virtual mirror issues on consoles
- Improved reflection quality and anti-aliasing in mirrors
Hardware support has been expanded with native support for numerous devices including Phantom Pro Pedals, Simjack UT Pedals, Bash Pro H-Shifter, Simsonn H-Shifter, PXN V10 Pro Wheelbase & A3 Pedals, Pokornyi GTE ButtonBox, and 3DRap Vintage Paddles.
Conclusion
Update 1.6.0.0 represents a significant step in the evolution of Project Motor Racing, with particular attention to realism and the driving experience of the LMDh class. Players will need to dedicate time to reviewing their setups, but the improvements to physics, AI, and overall stability promise an even more engaging and realistic simulation experience.
